Be Better Tomorrow

I hate to tell you this, but you aren’t perfect. No one is. And that’s the beauty of life. Everyone has flaws but we’re all capable of love and good things. Mistakes are how we learn as a species. If you touch a hot stove, you learn to not touch it because it hurts. Mistakes we make in life are basically the same. You fuck up. You realize it hurts. You learn how to be better.

Every day is an opportunity to be the person that we want to be. Whether it’s being kinder, more understanding, more patient, wiser, learning a new skill, going out of our comfort zone, anything. Every day is a new beginning and you don’t ever have to be the same person you were the day before. It can be difficult in our society to change your mind on a matter or to start behaving differently from one day to the next. To this I say fuck societal views on change.

If you wake up one morning and realize that you don’t want to smoke cigarettes anymore, people praise you because it’s a gross habit that can cause harm to you and to others. But if you wake up one morning and decide that an outlook on a situation you had yesterday no longer rings with you and now you feel the opposite, now you’re a hypocrite and you are wishy-washy. But changing your way of thinking from a negative perspective to a positive one over night is strength. It isn’t weakness, it isn’t uncertainty, it is the power to realize you were wrong and to be better.

Sometimes you feel loyal to your previous thoughts and actions. Especially if you’ve felt them for so long. And if they still resonate with you, keep at it. When it no longer brings you joy, change it. If it hurts yourself or others around you, change it. If it’s morally wrong, change it. Unless these actions and thoughts and feelings are positive, you need to be better. We are constantly growing and changing as humans. Change and growth are essential to becoming successful and ending our lives happy and full of love instead of miserable and bitter.

If you aren’t your best today, be better tomorrow.
